In this review of the Holosun EPS Carry, we will take a look at the top features, specifications, pros vs cons, and what other shooters have to say about it. The EPS Carry sits in a category that, until recently, was reserved for premium optics: the enclosed-emitter micro red dot sight (MRDS) small enough to ride a concealed carry pistol.
The “EPS” stands for Enclosed Pistol Sight, and the Carry version shrinks that platform down to fit subcompact and micro-compact slides. If you have ever pocket-carried an open-emitter dot and worried about lint or sweat creeping into the LED channel, this is the optic built to answer that concern.

Holosun EPS Carry Review
The Holosun EPS Carry is an enclosed-emitter micro red dot sight machined from A high-strength aerospace aluminum alloy (yield about 503 MPa / 73 ksi, roughly 1.8x that of 6061-T6) for only a few percent more weight. The go-to for duty and hard-use pistol optics, often forged.Full comparison → aluminum with an anodized finish. This particular model, the EPS-CARRY-RD-MRS, weighs about 1.23 ounces and measures roughly 1.63” x 0.95” x 1.07”, with a 0.77” x 0.58” viewing window. It runs on a single CR1620 lithium coin battery feeding a red Super-LED reticle, with an estimated 50,000-hour battery life at brightness setting 6. The Multiple Reticle System (M.R.S) offers a 2 Minute of Angle (MOA) dot, a 32 MOA circle, or the two combined. MSRP lands around $470, with street prices typically running lower, competitive for an enclosed pistol optic.
Holosun has spent the last several years steadily taking ground in the red dot sight (RDS) market by delivering feature-rich optics at prices that undercut the established names. The EPS Carry is a clear example of that strategy. It brings enclosed-emitter durability, solar backup, and a multi-reticle system to a price point that competitors struggle to match.
Top Features of the Holosun EPS Carry
Design
The defining design choice on the EPS Carry is the fully enclosed emitter. Instead of the open channel you find on an open reflex sight, the LED fires through a sealed tube behind the front glass. Lint, dust, snow, mud, and moisture cannot land between the emitter and the lens and block your dot. That is the single biggest practical reliability advantage an enclosed sight offers a carry gun.
The housing is CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum with an anodized finish, the same rugged alloy family Holosun uses across its lineup. At about 1.23 ounces and roughly 1.63” x 0.95” x 1.07”, it is one of the smaller enclosed dots on the market, and to my eye that is what makes it viable on a slim micro-compact slide rather than just a full-size duty pistol.

Lenses
The viewing window measures 0.77” x 0.58”. That is intentionally compact: a smaller window keeps the overall optic small enough to conceal, while still giving you enough glass for fast target acquisition at defensive distances. The multi-coated lens delivers a clear sight picture, with the slight tint typical of red-illuminated reflex optics.
Reticle
This MRS model ships with Holosun’s Multiple Reticle System (M.R.S). You get a 2 MOA dot for precision, a 32 MOA circle for fast close-range acquisition, or both together as a circle-dot. Switching between them does not change your Point of Impact (POI), so there is no need to re-zero when you change the reticle pattern.
We think most carry shooters will get along fine with the circle-dot combo, but for shooters who prefer a single aiming point, the EPS Carry is also sold in dot-only configurations (a 2 MOA and a 6 MOA) and in both red and green illumination. The reticle here is driven by a red Super-LED with 12 total brightness settings: 8 daylight levels and 4 that are night-vision (NV) compatible. The dot stays usable from bright midday sun down through NV-equipped low-light work.
Operation
The EPS Carry is operated through side-mounted buttons. Press to power on and adjust brightness up or down, and the optic remembers your last-used setting. It also includes an automatic brightness mode that uses the solar sensor to read ambient light and set the dot level for you.
Shake Awake
Holosun’s Shake Awake motion-sensing technology is on board and active by default. After a period of no movement the optic drops into a sleep state to conserve power, then wakes instantly to your last setting the moment it senses motion. On a carry gun this is exactly what you want: the dot is effectively always ready without you having to manage a power button.
Solar Failsafe
The EPS Carry also includes Holosun’s Solar Failsafe. A small solar array supplements the battery and can power the reticle directly in sufficient ambient light, even if the battery is dead. Combined with the 50,000-hour CR1620 life, this is an optic you can essentially leave on and forget. The battery loads through a side tray, so you never have to pull the sight off the slide and lose your zero just to swap a cell.
Mounting
The EPS Carry is built on the Holosun K footprint, closely related to the popular Shield RMSc pattern used across the micro-compact carry market. Holosun includes an RMSc-class adapter plate in the box, so the optic is ready to mount on the wide range of optic-ready subcompact and micro-compact pistols cut for that footprint. Windage and elevation adjustments are made in 1.5 MOA increments with an adjustment range of about +-30 MOA, plenty to zero on any pistol within its intended role.
